I can set the amp so that with everything bypassed, and at full volume the amp is breaking up some, then switch the tone & vol pots back in and back off the vol and tone a bit and it is smooth & clear for strumming. Gotta say so far i like it! This really gives me a bit wider tonal palette. so i did it as originalmatthew & David Collins initially wrote it up: You hit the switch and the whole thing, vol.

i could not quite grok how to do with with the tone pot in the bypass circuit. If you want tone to still be usable in volume-bypass, you would instead run it to a center lug on one half of the switch. If you want the tone control to be cut out in volume-bypass-mode, you can leave it wired just how it is shown (or perhaps move it to the outer lug of the volume pot if you prefer). Then run a jumper between the two lower lugs on the DPDT.

Then move your red wire up one lug on the DPDT, and run a lead from the lug above it to the left outer lug on the volume pot. In your drawing, you would drop the connection that goes from the pickup switch directly to the pot. Sorry no images, but I still do my schematics with pencil and paper. If you want it to override the tone in bypass, connect the tone to the respective lug of the pot instead. If you want the no-load tone pot still usable in the volume bypass mode, then run your wire from the tone pot to the center of whichever half of the toggle switch you prefer. On the other side of the toggle switch, just put a jumper between the two halves. Then run one side of the output half of the toggle to the center volume pot lug, and that same side on the selector switch half to the remaining non-grounded pot lug. The simplest way with a DPDT switch would be to run the center of one half of the toggle switch to the output jack, and center of the other half to the pickup selector switch.

more importantly how do you wire the bypass switch in? You'd just need a SPST mini toggle right? Anyway i have a dude who is gonna drill the liddo hole in my control plate for me and want to get this wired up.Īnyone know how to wire this up? Anyone else also do this?Ĭlose, but that arrangement would still leave the total resistance of the volume pot to ground within the circuit, and would not quite be a true bypass. what do think of this idea (since i see so few folks do this i wonder if there is some good reason not too).Īnd. go back to the quite passage right back at the flip of the switch, all while just keeping the standard tele 2 knob set up. and play some quieter strummmy strum clean passage and then flip the switch and instantly be at full volume. The main reason to do it, would be so that you could dial down your vol. Not only would this be useful for a faux pick-up wired right to the amp type thing, but it would be really musically useful for creating 2 discreet amplitude levels (as well as lp type stutter effects). Ever since i got my no-loud tone pot wired in all those many years ago, I have desired some kind of Vol.
